eduroam on the iPhone (and iPod Touch)
I created a general profile to easily install the settings for the eduroam wireless network on your iPhone.
How it works: load up Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch and go to:
That's it ? your iPhone/iPod Touch will load the profile. Install it and type your username (netid@tudelft.nl for the TU Delft) + password and you're done!
Doesn't work at your university? Remove the profile and try the WEP profile instead:
You can remove a profile through Settings»General»Profiles.
You can also load any MobileConfig file by emailing it (as an attachment) to your iPhone.
Please check out the Delft University of Technology profile for a version specific to TU Delft, including optional VPN.

I have an original iPhone (not a 3G) and I am on firmware 1.1.4
I've been using this profile for quite a long time and I would like to install it again. I have a problem coz your link doesn't work anymore. Please help me.
Any idea how to solve it?
Got me on the net at Technical University of Denmark, DTU, in 10secs.
smoooth and easy!
This worked perfectly for eduroam in Groningen. I was wondering if I can make something for a similar network (RuG-FN2). The different networks have different access-rights to specific servers, so sometimes I want to switch between the networks.
There is a profile already: (http://www.van-rijn.org/Misc/iPhoneRuG/), but with this profile I have to give my password each time. How can I change the profile (I noticed that is was partly XML) so that it doesn't ask for a password each time?
Regards,
Michiel
The easiest way is to use the iPhone Configuration Utility provded by Apple (http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/). You can probably also change the XML, but that'd be a lot more cumbersome than just using the utility.
I am working at the HvA and your app do's work with us to. Great job congrats!!!!
I have a ipod touch 2G, which was jailbreaked but after the upgrade
to OS 3.1.1 jaibreak was deleted.
is it necessary to have a jailbreak ipod?
I downloaded the file to my ipod but hte connection failed.
when I open your with the iphone
configuration tool (IPCU.exe)I see
that you used WEP enterprise, for my university it should be WPA enterprise.
how can I change that configuration?
regards
Uwe Brauer
- It works on any iPhone or iPod Touch with firmware version >= 2.0, no matter if it's jailbroken.
- The profile might actually work fine with WPA enterprise. Otherwise, use the configuration utility to edit it. Check the manual that comes with it for usage instructions.
thanks!
Bart
I have also problems with your created profile...
I have an ipod touch and I'm using version. 3.1.2.
Anyway, I could use eduroam when I was a TUD student. Now I became a TUD employee and I deleted the old eduroam profile. Afterwards I reinstalled the profile with my new TUD-netid and password.
Since that, it does not work anymore. I was thinking whether there is another file on my ipod touch I have to delete and change to my new netid???
cheers, tomtom
If that doesn't work: try removing all eduroam-related profiles and also 'forgetting' the eduroam network (Settings -> Wi-Fi -> eduroam -> Forget) and any other TU-networks you might have tried. Then re-install the profile. After installing, don't try to force a connection to eduroam but simply open Safari and open a webpage.
I tried almost everything and it does not work for me. I do everything you described on your blog but the iphone shows that it is connected for 2 seconds and then not anyway more. Does it have something do to with the new configurations of eduroam?
thanks!

I still have the same problem, have you got any clue why I does not work for me? I have a Iphone3G jailbrake 3.0 software....Thanx!
Bart
I followed your suggestions but I does not work yet... I have the same problem as Bart (I'm using ipodtouch), it connects for 2 seconds and afterwards it disconnects... Anyway, I'll let you know if I figure out the problem...
When I connect to eduroam it still asks for a password and putting in my EUR password doesn't help.
I'm trying with an iPhone 3G with fw 2.0.1.
my ipod touch cannot access the eduroam network (strangly: I used it in Utrecht yesterday and today I cannot connect anymore to TUD)... However, I know there was a general instruction on the TUD website somewhere to install eduroam and its certificates manually, BUT where???
I cannot find it anymore.. tx, balu
What about the network "tudelft-dastud"? I have the same problem with this dastud and eduroam... It connects and after a few seconds it disconnects...
Then I downloaded and installed the TUDelft luchthaven profile but thsis gave no difference and now I installed your profile and also no difference. My netid and password are the same as I use daily
Any idea? Thanks
After reboot, the wifi icon says there is connection with eduroam. When I open safari the icon dissappears and it starts using 3g. So, it looks like I can log on to the wifi, but whenever I start using it to get access data via the wifi, I'm thrown off...
My 3gs seems to be trying to make a connection: looking in "Instellingen" Wi-Fi, it blinks "eduroam" / "Geen verbinding".
A difference with what is said about the installation of Delft.mobileconfig: I do not get the popup window on the certificate?!?!
Sometimes there seems to be a connection for a minute or so.
Best regards, Pieter.
try making another profile using the Iphone Configuration Utility, with only a Wifi payload with the following settings: Security = "WEP Enterprise", EAP = "TTLS", Autentication protocol = "PAP". This helped me after a lot of fiddling around using my Iphone at the RUG (University Groningen). Looks like the WPA profile is not working here.
thanks
Luis Remisio
what do u think is wrong ?
I first disabled the network eduroam (forgetting) and deleted the profile I had. Then I installed a profile I got from my IT people http://studiolab.io.tudelft.nl/static/gems/mug/TUDelft.mobileconfig and used netid@tudelft.net. So not .nl Now it works at last.
"vinks" off eduroam for one sec and the "vink" goes away. So i havent gotten online yet. Ive got the gs3 16g. If anyone can has an idea, please tell me.
it works fine on the EUR, the only flaw is that it won't connect automatically as it always asks for your password. Is there a workaround for this?
thanks in advance
De Universiteit Leiden heeft nu ook zo'n scriptje:
http://socialmedia.weblog.leidenuniv.nl/2010/06/03/eduroam-op-je-iphone
Thanks in advance.
Inloggen gewoon met netid@tudelft.nl toch?
alvast hartelijk dank!
Daarnaast is er nog een versie specifiek voor de TU Delft:
http://mark.weblog.tudelft.nl/2010/05/16/effortless-iphone-configuration
Hoewel deze ook zou moeten werken.
Rob's suggestion (2010-02-25 @ 09:08) did the trick. I'm now connected without any problems.
Hey,
I have installed the new version of the iphone software and did a full reset of my Iphone 3G, i then installed the eduroam profile given to me by my colleagues in IT and the wifi works fine but when i turn the wifi off or leave the coverage area my 3G internet doesnt work and i get this error message "could not activate cellular network"....
I have tried everything, resetting my internet settings on my phone, installing a blank internet profile to be able to switch with the edorum and my 3G still seems not to work..... Can any1 help me? it seems like my wifi setting are conflicting with my 3G settings...
or it might be a problem with the new software. in the older version of the software this profile worked fine with both wifi and 3G.....
dnt know what else to do... apple will just say the profile is not configured properly.... =(
second profile works lika a charm at
ROC Midden Nederland
thank you!
Thanks !
Finally I found out what I did wrong: I forgot to type the .nl after my TU-delft loginname! :-)
Stupid, but now It works with the TU delft luchthaven profile from j.mp/delftconfig
Thanks!
My iPhone 4 worked just fine before installing eduroam certificate. After installing it I get: "could not activate cellular data network" when I turn it to 3G... I restored my iPhone 2x before i could understand that the problem just started after installing eduroam certificate.
The second one works perfect at the University of the Basque Country.
For EUR students: use the second config file and your full login-name
(like: 123456ab@eur.nl)
I tried using the internet after installing your profile, but it keep telling me that I can’t connect.
Then I check through the program and was wondering it my problem may be cause by the fact that the signature algorithm expires 28/10/11?
Ik heb het gedownload en het profiel stond gewoon bij mijn algemen instellingen en alles. Maar toen ik op school kwam moest ik inloggen met m'n hva id en dat lukte niet.m
Gaat btw om een iPad 2 (firmware 5.1)
Please help!
